What is Microsoft 365 and how can I use it?
Microsoft software is used in almost all German companies. Confident use of the standard Office applications Word, Excel and PowerPoint is a prerequisite in job advertisements and in everyday office life. Microsoft 365 (formerly: Office 365) is a cloud-based, extended suite of Microsoft Office products that forms the basis of the modern workplace. With Microsoft 365, you can access your data from anywhere, communicate with your team and collaborate digitally.
Microsoft 365 combines various online applications and services as well as installable Office software into a complete solution that allows you to work, manage and communicate more efficiently. The applications are linked with each other so that data can be easily exchanged and integrated between them.
You use the classic Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs to create and edit text documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Microsoft 365 also includes other powerful applications, some of which you will learn about in our digital collaboration training (ICDL). Here are the most important apps and functions:
- Teams: In Microsoft Teams you can make calls, chat and take part in video conferences. You work on documents together with your team and save the files in a document library that is accessible to everyone involved. The seamless integration of other Office applications significantly simplifies teamwork and provides an overview.
- SharePoint: In SharePoint you coordinate projects and tasks, bundle information and manage documents. You create internal company websites and assign access rights to documents. Documents and forms can be found quickly using various search functions and can be used by all employees in the company.
- OneDrive: You can also structure and manage large amounts of data with the cloud storage service. You can save, edit or share files and images – at any time and from any device. The Office applications are closely linked to OneDrive.
